Bobbie Sisinyak

Bobbie Jean Sisinyak, 77, recently of Mt. Pleasant, NC, died December 19, 2011, after a heroic, five-year war with cancer. Born in West Virginia, February 5, 1934, to Bill and Mildred Bulmer, Bobbie was raised in a coal mining family. Bobbie's formative years were spent in West Virginia, Maryland, California, and Oregon as her parents pursued better job opportunities. After graduating from high school in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, she earned her Bachelor's Degree from Oregon State University. Bobbie was an independent young woman at a time when independence in women was not the norm. Upon graduation from college, she taught arts and crafts throughout the world, refined her artistic abilities, and devoted her life to raising her two sons. Bobbie did not only teach art, she lived it. She was an artisan in many mediums, including wood, cane, fabric, clay, paint, and more. She had an uncanny ability to see hidden beauty in otherwise everyday materials and coax that beauty out with her practiced hands, heart, and soul. Some of Bobbie's other loves were time shared with family and friends, nature, flower gardening, and dogs. She loved and cared for many throughout her life. This world will be a little less bright without her. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Bulmer and Mildred Faber Bulmer. She is survived by son Tom Sisinyak of Concord, NC; son Joe Sisinyak and his wife Nancy of Fairbanks, AK; grandson Joey Sisinyak; brother Don Bulmer and his wife Ginnie of Bothell, WA; many friends across the US; and her canine companion, Vinnie. Bobbie's wishes were that there would be no funeral services. Donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, NC. 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis NC 28083.
