Aaron Eugene "Gene" Linker

Aaron Eugene “Gene” Linker age 83 peacefully passed away at his home, on Tuesday August 29 2023. His death was very unexpected. Gene was the fifth child of nine children born to the late Aaron and Carrie Linker on March 31st 1940.

Gene served in the United States Army for four years stationed in Germany.

Before his retirement he worked in Cannon Mills for 35 years in the weave room.

Gene was a simple man and lived a simple life, he loved hunting, fishing and gold panning. His hobby was carving anything from wood including walking sticks, owls, and other beautiful pieces.  His other enjoyment was going to Circle K everyday to get a scratch off lottery ticket. He bought his last one Tuesday.

Gene was preceded in death by brothers Kendall and Ray Linker, sisters Ruth Barrier and Frances Kanipe.

Family left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Karen Linker Novak and Amanda Linker, and son Joey Steen, grand- daughters Kortney Linker and Rebecca Steen, grand-sons Tristian Linker, Benjamin Steen.

Pall bearers are Gerald Talley, Jeff Talley, Brian Bittle, Tristian Linker, Nolan Baker, and Justin Moss.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on Thursday August 31st at

Gordon Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00am at Gordon Funeral Home, officiated by Darrell Kluttz.

A private burial will be at the V.A. National Cemetery in Salisbury with full Military Honors at a later date.
