Mrs. Anne Honeycutt Spence, 81 of Main St., Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at her residence. Funeral service will be 2:30pm Saturday at St. Stephens Lutheran Church where she will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service; officiated by Rev. Constance Garrett, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Spence was born April 24, 1930 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late C.E. Honeycutt and Mary Hahn Honeycutt. She was an active member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church. She was as assistant store manager for Sears for many years and in retirement she enjoyed working at Moose Drug Store in Mt. Pleasant, she also enjoyed crafting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Spence. She is survived by her daughter Gail Simpson and husband Mike, grandchildren, Justin and Courtney and a sister in law Betty Honeycutt. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Angie, Ruby, Mary, Dawn, Dr. Brent Kelly and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their care during Anne's declining health.
