Arthur Alan Addison, Sr.

Arthur Alan Addison, Sr., 68, of Kannapolis passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Big Elm Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held 3pm Saturday, September 9 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 prior to the service. Private interment will take place at a later date in the Salisbury National Cemetery.

Arthur was born in Miami, FL on May 17, 1955 to the late Claude Arthur Addison and Mary Ida Winecoff Addison Fink. He attended Central Cabarrus High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1973 to 1979. Lance Corporal; First Battalion Platoon 164. After his military service, he worked as a carpenter for many years and retired as a owner/operator truck driver.

He will be remembered as an easygoing person with a good sense of humor. Always the jokester. He loved motorcycles, southern rock music and a good sci-fi film. He thoroughly enjoyed children and dogs.

He is survived by a daughter Jackie SueAnn Addison Sisco (Derrick); son Arthur Alan Addison Jr.; sisters, Deborah Gale Addison Kirk (Mike), Sylvia Addison Holland (Peter) and Carolyn Ann Cyper; brother Randy Eugene Waldrop (Kerry); grandchildren Jessica Erin Coley, Jacob Eden-Elijah Crayton, Marshall Evan-Eric Morgan; nephews Timothy Mickel Kirk (Kristy), and Edward Nick Weber; and a niece Angela Maria Kirk. He helped raise, for many years, the late Bridgette Beth-Lee Furr, Sarah Ann Hunt and Heather Adale Hunt.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation for the entire staff at Big Elm Nursing-Retirement Center of Kannapolis for their friendship, great care of Arthur over the years and their genuine concern for his comfort and well-being.
