Mr. Arthur Ray Gandy, 93, of Concord passed away, Monday July 6, 2026 at Morningside Assisted Living.

A private family graveside service will be held Thursday July 9 at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Perry Lemmons. 

Ray was born in Cabarrus County, December 25, 1932 to the late William Wesley Gandy and Nettie Brown Gandy Williams. Ray worked as a fixer at Cannon Mills and as a warehouse supervisor at Forms and Supplies in Charlotte. He often attended Royal Grace Bible Church. He was a skillful gardener and enjoyed selling his produce and talking with his customers who stopped by. He also enjoyed many woodworking projects. Ray was an avid baseball fan, especially a fan of the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Elsie Smith Gandy; brother, Dewey Gandy, sisters, Ethel Foster and Bertha Falkenberry; and half-brothers Jess, Charles, J.W., Jim, and Olin Gandy. 

A special thanks goes to his surviving sister, MariAnn Rinehardt for her devotion to Ray. 

He is also survived by his sons, Mike Gandy and wife Susie, Richard “Rick” Gandy and wife Gail and David Gandy and wife Aprel; grandchildren, Savana, Elyse, Bonnie and Snoa; multiple great grandchildren.

The Gandy family would also like to thank the dedicated staff of Moringside Assisted Living and Hospice for assisting in caring for Ray.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
