Aubrey Lee Whitley, 81, passed to his heavenly home on December 31, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Natalie Whitley at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 32056 Herrin’s Grove Rd., Mount Pleasant at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 2, 2023.

Aubrey was born September 29, 1941 to the late Lonnie Alexander and Ila Mae Connell Whitley.  He was also preceded in death by brothers. Morris, Arlie, Wayne, and Ronnie and sister, Lucille Overcash.  He is survived by his wife of 57 1/2 years, Gail Morgan Whitley; his son, Alex and wife Lynette; granddaughter, Laura and grandson, Jared; two sisters, Minnie Baucom, and Kay Havens and sister-in-law, Merle Whitley. 

Aubrey served in the U.S. Army Infantry and was honorably discharged as a SP4.  He was an electrician until God called him to spread the Word.  He ministered to many serving churches in Union, Anson, and Stanly counties.  He made countless friends and will be missed by all who knew him.  He retired in 2004 to come home to enjoy family and return to the simple ways of life on the farm.  He was thankful each day for the blessings God had given him.
