Bennie Ruth Hunsucker

Bennie Ruth Hunsucker, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at Kannapolis Health & Rehabilitation. Born on December 1, 1940, in Stanly County, NC, she was a devoted daughter Oscar Lee Baucom and Verla Helms Baucom, both of whom predeceased her.

Bennie was known for her warm and welcoming personality, always eager to extend a helping hand to others. She enjoyed an accomplished career, working at Cannon Mills and later becoming the Owner/Operator of 601 Trading Post. 

A faithful member of Cold Springs Methodist Church, Bennie found joy and solace in her faith and was an active participant in church activities. She had a passion for baking cakes, which she shared generously with friends and family, and often delighted in playing bingo, bringing lighthearted fun to gatherings.

Bennie was a loving mother to her two daughters, Patricia Cannon and Cathy Fitzgerald, both of whom survive her. She treasured her role as a grandmother to Katie Williams, Mandy Murray, Jenny Lambert and Bradly Cannon, also as a great-grandmother to James Murray V, AzLee Murray, Daniel Murray, Reagan Hoban, Mabry Lambert, and Quinlee Lambert. Each of her grandchildren brought her immense joy, and her warm spirit will be cherished in their memories.

Bennie is preceded in death by her husbands, Gene M. Love and Lester Hunsucker, and her daughter, Jane Ellen Love. Bennie's legacy of kindness, dedication to family, and community involvement will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visitation will take place at Gordon Funeral Home Of Mt. Pleasant in Mount Pleasant, NC, on March 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm officiated by Rev. Cliff Wall. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family invites all who knew and loved Bennie to attend and celebrate her life.
