C. Gilbert Heilig, III

C. Gilbert “Gib” Heilig, III, 87, of Concord, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020, at St. Andrews Assisted Living Center. A private graveside service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity Church Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. A Cabarrus County native, Gib was born March 5, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant to Clarence Gilbert Heilig, Jr., and Margaret Virginia Robinson Heilig. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Charles Butterworth. A long-time member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gib was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University and a U.S. Army veteran having served his country honorably in the Korean Conflict. He was the owner/operator of Roberts Camera Store in downtown Concord for 36 years. Gib is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Auten Heilig; his four children, Janet H. Santibañez (Samir), Charles G. Heilig (Emily L.), Shawn Butterworth (Jimmy), and Laura Willingham (Barry); and two granddaughters, Helen Hart Heilig and Julia Butterworth.
