Debra White Baker

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and Nana, Mrs. Debra “Debby” Baker, 71, of Kannapolis, who passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Debby was born on May 7, 1954.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 47 years, William Baker; her two children, Alison Craft (Ryan) and Andrew Baker (Jenna); and her greatest joy, her three grandchildren, Rylan Craft, Hudson Craft, and Presley Baker. Family was the center of Debby’s life, and she showed her love through her constant presence, unwavering support, and deep devotion. She never missed a sporting event, dance recital, vacation or chance to have a family dinner. She was her grandkids’ biggest cheerleader and always had the right words for them.

Debby had a heart for adventure and was always ready to pack a bag and go, whether to the beach or the mountains, often enjoying time camping with her family. She found joy in working in her yard, admiring her plants, and collecting special treasures along the way. She loved deeply and created lasting memories with those she held dear.

A graduate of A.L. Brown High School and UNC Charlotte, Debby dedicated 30 years to teaching at Jackson Park Elementary School. She touched the lives of countless students and was known for her genuine love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her Jackson Park family.

Debby was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis, where she faithfully served for many years in the children’s ministry and, in later years, found great joy in her Women’s Bible Study.

She also loved many pets throughout her life and leaves behind her beloved companion, Huck Finn, who brought her comfort and joy.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis, 201 Vance Street, Kannapolis NC 28081. A private family burial will follow.
