Frances Earnhardt Goodman

Frances Earnhardt Goodman of Mount Pleasant passed away March 15, 2026 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Celebration of Frances‘s life will be held 3pm Saturday, April 11 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. The Goodman family will receive friends from 2-3 prior to the service.

Mrs. Goodman was born November 2, 1936 to the late Harrell Houston and Margaret Wishon Earnhardt. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years Vance Reid Goodman, two brothers Carl L. Earnhardt and W. Earl Earnhardt; three sister-in-law Martha C. Earnhardt, Joyce M. Earnhardt and Miriam G. Gray; brother-in-law, Ralph E. Gray and niece, Carla Kindley.

Mrs. Goodman graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, class of 1955, where she was active in sports and chorus. She was a member of Saint Stephen’s Lutheran Church. She began singing in the church choir at the age of 12. She served on church council, taught Sunday School classes and directed the church choir for two years.

Frances and Vance were past members of the St. John’s Grange, where the Goodman family was named Grange family of the year in 2002. She was a charter member of the Mount Pleasant Lioness Club and Northeast Cabarrus Volunteer Fire Department as a first responder. She was employed by Dr. A.L. Barringer and later, Dr. Allen Dobson.

Mrs. Goodman‘s love of music led her to be active at the Cabarrus County senior center. She loved line dancing, singing, and the fellowship with her friends.

Survivors are her son; Myron Goodman and wife, Glenda of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Terri O’Neill of Carolina Shores; granddaughter; Joni Featherstone and great granddaughter Layni Featherstone; brother-in-law; Carl Goodman, and wife, Brenda of Midland, nephews; Rick Earnhardt, Dr. Tom Earnhardt, Steve Earnhardt and wife Diane, all of Mount Pleasant; Nieces; Melanie Turner and Gina Coleman and husband Trent of Concord, Annette Rhodes of Raleigh and Alan Goodman and wife Jessica of Concord.

Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 4401 St. Stephen’s Church Rd., Gold Hill, NC 28071 or Northeast Cabarrus VFD, 1500 Lentz Harness Shop Rd. N., Mount Pleasant NC 28124.
