Gudrun Hobbs

Gudrun Joanne Umhauer Hobbs, Resident of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2011. She was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany to the late Rosa Umhauer on June 20, 1936. She was the wife of the late Carleton E. Hobbs, whom she met while he was stationed over in Germany (1952- 1956). Gudrun was an active member of Mt. Gilead Lutheran Church, DAV Auxiliary, and American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She retired from IBM in 1995. Gudrun was the loving mother of Deborah Recob and Trish Johansson of CO, and David Hobbs of NC. She is survived by her nine grandchildren and one great grandchild: Heather Hobbs of TN, Amber, Michael, Nate, James and Amanda of NC, Scott, David Ty and Andrew of CO, and her great grandchild, Jonas of NC. Services will be held at Gordon's Funeral Home on July 19, 2011 from visitation from 7:00-8:30 p.m. with an 8:30 service. A private family ceremony will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery in North Carolina. There, she and her husband will be laid to rest will military honors.
