Harvey Barringer

Harvey Lee Barringer, Sr., 88 of Mt. Pleasant went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 30, 2013. Harvey was born December 15, 1924 in Cabarrus County son of the late Daniel L. Barringer and Mamie Rowland Barringer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Catherine Crowell Barringer. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Survivors include two sons, Harvey Lee Barringer. Jr. and wife Becky and granddaughter Melinda, and Donnie Barringer and wife Teresa all of Concord, he is also survived by a sister in law Evelyn Barringer of Laurinburg, NC and by several nieces and nephews. Harvey worked for Culp Brothers, of Gold Hill for 26 years. Having being raised on a farm he became a lifetime farmer. He was a US Army veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 301 in Mt. Pleasant for over 50 years. He also was a member of St. John's Grange. He was presented the NC State Granger of the Year Award in 1992. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant and at other times at his residence. Funeral service will be 11:00am Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Ericson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military graveside rite by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. Special thanks to Dr. D. Brent Kelly for his loving concern and care for Harvey.
