Hoy Cecil Allman, 86, of Concord, passed away, Monday March 23, 2026 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Funeral services will be held, 3pm Saturday March 28 at Cold Water Baptist Church, 1045 Union St. S., Concord NC 28025, officiated by Rev. Jim Posey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Allman family will receive friends from 1-3 prior to the service.
Mr. Allman was born in Cabarrus County, April 27, 1939, to the late Jacob Monroe and Carrie Eury Allman. He was a man of deep and unwavering faith who loved the Lord above all. A devoted member of Coldwater Baptist Church, he also cherished his time in the mountains at First Baptist of Newland. His faith guided his life, shaped his character, and was evident in the way he treated others with kindness, humility, and a servant’s heart.
He worked many years as a semi-truck driver, first with CTC and later with Consolidated Freightways, where he proudly served as a member of the Teamsters Union and was recognized for 30 years of dedication. He treasured the friendships he made along the way, especially working alongside his close friend, Ed Clark.
When he was not working, he found his greatest joy with his hands. He loved tractors of all kinds—from FarmAlls to Fords—and could often be found tinkering, repairing, and bringing old machines back to life. It was not just a hobby; it was where he felt most at peace, a reflection of his patience, skill, and quiet pride in a job well done.
He and his wife, Violet, built a summer home in Avery County, where he spent many happy years improving the property alongside his sons and grandchildren, creating a place filled with love and memories.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Roger; four brothers; Boyd, Ralph, Fred and Glenn, three sisters; Marie, Gertrude and Sarah.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Violet Henley Allman; sons, Danny Allman, Rick Allman (Robin) and Randy Allman; grandchildren; Melissa Hooker (Jason), Jennifer Dewyea (William), Wesley Allman, Deborah Allman, Jessica Christenbury (Trent) and John Allman; nine great grandchildren; brothers Carl Allman and Buddy Allman; and sister Mary Isenhour.
He was a hard worker, a faithful servant, and a friend to all. He was always there when someone needed help, never asking for anything in return.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to, Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis NC 28081.
