James Reece

Mr. James Edward Reece, Jr., 79 of Gold Hill, passed away, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his residence. Funeral service was held 4:00pm Sunday (Mar.16) at Miami Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Robert Howard, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Reece was born January 24, 1935 in Fort Madison, Iowa, son of the late Edward James Reece and Vernest Mae Shirts Reece. He was a retired letter carrier for the US Postal service. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of Miami Baptist Church where he was very active serving as a, Sunday School teacher, trustee and the Encouragers and a deacon, he also loved to visit his church family that he shepherded over as a deacon. He loved being on his farm, farming, gardening and fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jones Reece, sons, Greg Reece and wife Teresa, of Gold Hill, Bryon Reece and wife Terrie of Concord, Ronald Reece of Concord and Richard Reece of Gold Hill, daughter, Dianna Reece, of Concord, sister, Judy Reece of MO, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Miami Baptist Church, Building Fund, 6701 Miami Church Rd., Concord, NC 28025
