Janie Almond McLester

Janie Almond McLester, 89, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026. Born on May 5, 1936, Janie’s life was a testament to faith and service to her family and community.

Janie was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant. Janie wed Jack Voy McLester and together, they built a loving family and a life around their home and garden. As a family, they enjoyed many camping trips. Janie also worked outside of the home as an inspector at local hosiery mills and in retirement, she was a proud volunteer in healthcare facilities. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack McLester, son, Bobby Ray McLester, as well as her parents, Ransom and Mary Lee Knight Almond.

Janie is survived by her devoted son, Ronald McLester and his wife Libby. She also leaves behind three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of kindness and devotion.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gordon Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant, 8559 Cook St., Mount Pleasant, NC 28124. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Janie McLester’s enduring spirit and the memories she has left with all who knew her will continue to inspire and comfort those she touched throughout her 89 years.
