Joel Whitley

Joel Watson Whitley, 53 of Gold Hill, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 Funeral service will be 7:00pm Thursday evening at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, the family will receive friends from 5:30-7pm prior to the service. Joel was born February 4, 1961 in Cabarrus County son of the late D.F. Whitley and Reviatha Watson Whitley. He was preceded in death by his wife Jesusita "Jessie" Whitley. He an Eagle Scout and a Mount Pleasant High School graduate, class of 1979. He was previously a construction foreman and enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Jessi Fausett of Columbus, OH, Sandi Merithew and Angel Whitley both of Gold Hill, brother, Danny Whitley, sister Martha Blackwelder, grandchildren Anna and Billy. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed Boy Scout Troop #52, St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 4550 St. Stephens Ch. Rd., Gold Hill, NC 28071
