John Earl Busbin age 89 entered the gates of heaven on November 5, 2024.
Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday November 9 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt Pleasant, Hospice Chaplain Ric Durham officiating. Private family graveside will be held at Carolina Memorial Park. The Busbin family will receive friends from 9:30-11am prior to the service.
John was born in Catawba County and raised in Mt Pleasant to the late John Benjamin and Ollie Mae Kirk Busbin. He graduated from Mt Pleasant High School in 1953, a beloved member of the football team. Upon graduation, John served his country in the army for four years in Austria and Italy. John married the love of his life Florence Ann Hahn in 1957 and celebrated 67 years of marriage in January. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Inez Busbin Isenhour.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Teresa Jones, Johnny Busbin and Susan Smith. (Shawn) all of Mt Pleasant. 6 grandchildren- Matt (Andria) Jones, Tyler (Jackie) Jones, Natalie (Jantzen) Cranford, April (Baker) Goodman, Ashley (Joel) Hanel, and Kayla Busbin; five great grandchildren- Jubilee, Mira, Corbin, Wyatt and Charlie. Brother Donald Eugene "Gene" Busbin of Mt Pleasant.
John worked various jobs until he began his life long career as a building contractor. John built alongside his brother until his retirement. John was known for his quick wit, love for music, singing and songwriting and love of chocolate. He always had a huge garden and spent countless hours in it. Most of all, John loved the Lord and gave him the glory for all his blessings. John never sang without giving his testimony and telling folks about Jesus. He was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, Concord NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Atrium Health, Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis NC 28081 or the Patriot Relief Fund, 9808 Chestnut Hills, Harrisburg NC 28075, -rebuilding Western North Carolina-temporary tractor sheds.
