Judson passed peacefully on February 16, 2026 at Mt Pleasant House in Mt. Pleasant NC.
He was born March 23, 1948 in Lakes Wales, Florida.
A graveside service will be held March 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Cleveland Town Cemetery in Cleveland NC. Pastor Don Heglar will officiate the service.
Judson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 28 years Bonnie R. Alward and his parents, Ethel K Alward and Judson James Alward Sr.
He is survived by his son Judson Heath Alward of Horton Alabama, sister Deborah Barbee (Hugh), brother Donald H. Alward Sr. (Martha), sister Irene Beaver (Mike), and sister-in-law Betty R. Sloan. He was a much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Judson is a graduate of the UNC-C School of Engineering. Judson was a licensed Mechanical Engineer who specialized in hydro-electric maintenance. Judson rose to the position of Manager of Hydro Maintenance where he was employed. He worked at Duke Energy for the first 22 years of his professional career. He retired from Oglethorpe Power in 2021 after 25 years of service.
Judson was a proud patriot. He loved the United States of America. He proudly served in the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves. Judson loved flying and earned his Glider Pilot rating. He expressed to his family members his love of being in the air.
The family would like to thank Mt. Pleasant House, Cabarrus Family Medicine, and Atrium Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for our loved one.
Judson loved animals and especially his dogs. In lieu flowers please send a donation to your local animal shelter.
