Kay Mullis Smith

Kay Mullis Smith, 79 of , Mt. Pleasant, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Tucker Hospice House. Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday, Sept. 24, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev Bruce Gwyn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Smith family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, Sept. 23, at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. She was born March 14, 1937 in Stanly County, daughter of the late Brady P. Mullis and Foye Thomas Mullis. She graduated Mt. Pleasant High School in 1955 and attended UNC Charlotte's Music Department for two years. She was a dedicated and active member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. She was a church musician serving her church, as well as several other congregations over the years. She also taught piano in schools and Mullis Music Company. She is survived by her husband of 60 years William B. Smith of Mt. Pleasant. sons Daron Smith, Phillip Smith and wife Lisa, and Jeffery Smith and wife Kim; daughter Cheryl Smith, a sister Dianne Fisher as well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren .
