After 91 years, Lewis B. Medlin, Sr. of Blue Ridge, VA went home to Heaven Friday December 19th, 2014 to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, for all of eternity. Lewis and his wife Polly invite all of you to accept Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior and join them in heaven for your eternal life. He was the son of the late W. C. and Hettie Medlin of Mt Pleasant, NC where as a child and young adult he worshipped and served the Lord as a member of the Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his four brothers; Lawrence, Anson “Demp”, Glen Davis “Bill”, and Webster. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy as a Seabee for over 3 years in the South Pacific. He was an accomplished master electrician who worked on such major national projects as the St. Lawrence Seaway in northern New York, and he also helped build one of the first nuclear power plants in the United States that was located in Barnwell, South Carolina. For the next 25 years he continued his career in the electrical trade in the Washington, DC area. In 1978 he moved to Blue Ridge, VA and founded E-Z Mount Bracket Company along with his son Lewis. Over the next 36 years they have been awarded 19 patents from the United States Patent Office. During that time they have developed over 25 brackets that are being used primarily by the electrical industry. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Polly Medlin; his cherished sister Marie Wilson of Mt Airy, NC and his precious children Lewis B. Medlin, Jr. of Vinton, VA; Deidri Medlin Williams of Blue Ridge, VA; Charles W. Medlin of South Western VA; and Gina Medlin Sumner of Winder, GA; as well as 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10am to 12pm at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant the morning of Tuesday December 23rd with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at the Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 1260 N. College St. P.O. Box 237 Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124. He loved God, life and his family, and he will be greatly missed by all of us.
