Linda Elaine Smith

Linda Elaine Hough Smith, 71, of Reed Mine Road, Midland, traded her earthly home for her heavenly home on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and friends. A celebration of her life will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at St. Stephen’s Wesleyan Church, 7601 Brusharbor Rd., Concord, officiated by the Rev. Don Ingle and the Rev. Gary Morris. Burial will follow at Center Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Smith Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gordon Funeral Home, 8559 Cook St., Mt. Pleasant. Linda was born Feb. 26, 1945, to David Hough and Lucille Shinn Hough. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 51 years, George B. Smith, who died in 2014; and her brother, Harry Hough. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, she was a homemaker and drew her greatest joy as wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Renee S. Buck and husband, Todd; son, Brian Smith and wife, Sharlyn, all of Concord; a brother, David Eugene “Gene” Hough of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Clint Buck, Devin Miller, Anthony Smith and Darbi Smith; a host of special nieces and nephews; and special sisters of choice, Libby Smith, Evelyn Smith, Peggy Long and Marlene Lowder.
