Marvin "Tot" Junior Rowland, born June 25, 1936, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 11, 2026.
Services will be held at 2pm Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Open Door Baptist Church where he was a member for 48 years, with Reverend Nathan Hammill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rowland family will receive friends from 12:30-2 prior to the service.
Tot spent much of his life working as a logger, a profession in which he took great pride. He was most at home in the woods, where he dedicated countless years to hard work and providing for his family. Those who knew Tot will remember his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and deep appreciation for the outdoors.
On April 15, 1955, Tot married the love of his life, Frankie. Together they built a life filled with love, devotion, and family, spending 66 wonderful years side by side until Frankie's passing in June 2021. Their marriage was a true example of lasting love and commitment. His parents Earl Monroe and Tillie Holshouser Rowland also predeceased Marvin.
Together, Tot and Frankie raised two children, Debbie and Todd, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Tot is survived by his children, as well as four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his memory and the values he instilled in them.
In his later years, you could often find Tot in the garage working on lawnmowers or sharpening chainsaws. He enjoyed mowing yards, staying busy, and always finding something to work on with his hands. Even in retirement, he carried the same hardworking spirit that defined his life.
Tot cherished the time spent with his loved ones and leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss him dearly. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave throughout his life.
The family is grateful for the comfort and support provided by Atrium Health Hospital at Home & Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis NC 28081.
