Maxine Blackwelder

Mrs. Maxine Walker Blackwelder, 85 of Walker Rd., Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at The Oaks at Town Center, Harrisburg. Funeral service will be 4pm Tuesday, at Saint John's Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Donald Deal, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Blackwelder family will receive friends from 3-4pm at the church prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Blackwelder was born July 26, 1927 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late Jesse Homer Walker and Minnie Lee Kimray Walker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and formerly a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Charlotte. She enjoyed being outdoors with her cows and in her garden. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Blackwelder and brother John Daniel Walker. She is survived by a son Robert (Bob) L. Blackwelder and wife Cindy of Mt. Pleasant, daughters, Carol Blackwelder Moser of Huntersville and Sue Blackwelder Hyde and husband Jamie of Mt. Pleasant, grandchildren, Ryan Moser and wife Kristy, Sybil B. Brumley and husband Jason and Jason Blackwelder and wife Julie, Lane and Shelby Hyde, and five great grand sons. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of The Oaks at Town Center for their care of Mrs. Blackwelder during her declining health.
