Michael Wilson Blackwelder

Michael Wilson “Babe” Blackwelder, 54, of Concord, passed away, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at his residence.

Funeral service will be 11:30, Saturday, January 17, at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Catherine Ritch; private family burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The Blackwelder family will receive friends from 10-11:15am prior to the service.

Mike was born April 17, 1971 in Cabarrus County, son of Monty Wilson Blackwelder and the late David Ray “Dick” Blackwelder. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He worked at Westrock Coffee and was a sports fan including the New York Yankees and the Clemson Tigers. He was a former member of the Cold Water Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his mother Monty Wilson Blackwelder, brother, David Blackwelder (Lisa); sister Barbara Preddy (Jim); nephews, Justin and Benjamin Preddy. His dogs Moose and Benny. A friend to all, and loved by many.

Memorials may be directed to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 100 St. John’s Church Rd., Concord, NC 28025.
