Michael (Mike) Anthony Reigel

Michael A. (Mike) Reigel, 83, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Memorial service will be held 3pm, Sunday, January 18 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Earl Bradshaw. The Reigel family will receive friends from 1-3 prior to the service.

Born on May 23, 1942, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Mike was the son of the late Oscar and Angie Reigel. He graduated from Academy High School in 1960 before honorably serving his country in the U.S. Navy. A proud veteran, Mike served aboard the aircraft carriers USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) and USS Antietam (CVS-36). His dedication to his work continued throughout his civilian life, where he spent 37 years as a valued employee at AMSCO/Steris.

On September 13, 1963, Mike married the love of his life, Amy Elizabeth Potter. Their 60-year journey was defined by adventure and togetherness. From the decks of six different cruises to quiet anniversaries spent at the Big Lynn Lodge in the Blue Ridge Mountains, they were inseparable. Mike also took great joy in attending Navy reunions, keeping the spirit of his service alive alongside his wife.

Mike was a man of community, holding memberships in the Green Township Lions Club, the Siebenburger Club, and the American Legion. Above all, he was the pillar of his large and loving family.

He is survived by his five children: Anjie Vickers (Greg), Bernadette Kiser, Michael Reigel, Sean Reigel (Tonia), and Jeremy Reigel (Sara). He was a proud grandfather to Amanda Miller Talley (David), Nathaniel Vickers, Kathlene Thomas (Blake), Michael Reigel, Shane Reigel (Trinity Bolt), Jacob Reigel, Jasmine Kerner, Anthony Reigel, and David Percy; and a loving great-grandfather to Taylor, Easton, Oaklyn, and Myles. He also leaves behind his siblings in Arizona: Judy Alderman (Lerry), Denise Reigel, Rick Reigel, and Renee Ferrara (David).

Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Amy, who passed just one year ago; his parents; his brother, William (Bill) Reigel; and his grandson, Matthew Miller.

While his family mourns his loss, they take immense comfort in knowing that Mike is finally reunited with Amy, whom he has missed desperately this past year. In honoring his memory, the family asks that you “remember an awesome life” rather than his passing.
