Nancy Ellen Landreth Mabe Harris, 87 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away November 17, 2015 at the Tucker Hospice House. Funeral service will be 11:00am Thursday at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Bo Sherrill. The Harris family will receive friends from 10-11am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord Nancy was born December 4th 1927 in Forsyth Co, daughter of the late James Guthrie Landreth and Carrie Martin Landreth. She resided in Davidson Co until 1982 when she moved to Cabarrus County. She Grew up working in the tobacco, corn and cotton fields with her father. Later she was a machine operator at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, was an expert seamstress and sewed samples for the showroom at Thomasville Furniture. She was a beautician and owned and operated a lawn and garden center in Thomasville. In Cabarrus County she worked at Pacer MFG as a seamstress and Kindley Yarns as a machine operator, prior to her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and was proud of her prize tomatoes, featured in the Tribune in 2004. She was an active member at Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity in Mt. Pleasant for several years and later moved her membership to Parkwood Baptist, in order to attend church with her (deaf) daughter Caroline. She was preceded in death by siblings Marvin Landreth, Lewis Landreth , Rachel Snow, Delbert Landreth, James Landreth and Vaudie Landreth. She is survived by children Bernice Hull, Elmer Mabe Jr., Caroline Moore, Charlie "Chuck" Harris and wife Marie and Zeba Barringer and husband David. Sisters, Mozelle Mabe and husband Lonzie, Helen Scott and a brother Wallace Landreth and wife Marty, nine grandchildren, including Greg Harris and wife Rebecca, Dr. Jennifer Harris, Miles and Leonard Barringer, eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildern. In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to Parkwood Baptist Church, Deaf Ministry Fund, 1069 Central Dr., NW, Concord, NC 28025
