Phillip Lane McRorie, 79 passed away on October 9, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Mt. Pleasant. Phil was a devoted husband, cherished “Papa” to his children and grandchildren and friend to many, many people.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 3:00 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant, 8559 Cook Street, Mount Pleasant, NC. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 11, 2026 from 5:00 -8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Phil was born on July 6, 1947 in Cabarrus County to Roy A. McRorie and Mary Boyce McRorie. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from service, he worked as a purchasing agent for Cannon Mills and Cabarrus Memorial Hospital.
Phil and Faye Talley were married in 1970 and built a wonderful life together filled with love and a committed Christian faith. Phil attended Propel Church and lived out his faith by example daily. He was always reaching out to help others. Phil had a large personality, was always the clown and the life of the party. He was known to read tabloids from cover to cover and share the “news” with everyone. Phil rarely missed an episode of Judge Judy.
Phil is survived by his wife, Faye Talley McRorie; his daughters, Lisa Cloninger (Brent) and Angie Carpenter (Dave); his grandchildren, Alyssa Huie, Will Thompson, and Josie Mauney; and his sisters, Alishia Norris and Valerie McRorie He is also survived by special nieces, Rebecca and her children Marlee, Colton, Trey and Sarah and her children Ashton and Alayna. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Roy McRorie, Jerry McRorie and his sister Juana McRorie Nance.
