Rodney Larry Duncan

Mr. Rodney Larry Duncan, 63 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Thursday, February 5, 2015 at his residence. Memorial service will be 3:00pm Saturday, Feb. 7, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Carlin Ours. The Duncan family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday evening at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Duncan was born September 16, 1951 in Henderson County, son of the late Silas S. Duncan and Agnes Specht Duncan. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where he served in many leadership roles over the years. He was retired from the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services. Prior to his work for Cabarrus County he had worked for Davidson County Social Services, Guilford County Health Department and Transylvania County Social Services. He served on the Board of Communities in Schools for Cabarrus County. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, gardening and waterfalls. He was preceded in death by a brother Rev. Dr. Steven Duncan. He is survived by his wife Sharon Parker Duncan, daughters, Amy Duncan Brewer and husband Ryan of Concord and Julie Duncan of Mt. Pleasant, sister, Betty D. Higdon of Merritt Island, FL.
