Sharon Culp Barringer

Sharon Gail Culp Barringer, aged 76, of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, passed away Friday, November 6, 2026 at Copperfield Health & Rehabilitation after a long battle with Type 1 Diabetes and Dementia. She was a devoted teacher, wife and mother who touched many lives in Cabarrus County.

Education was Sharon’s passion. After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School and Pfeiffer University, she returned to Mount Pleasant High School to begin her career as a teacher. There she taught English and literature for 27 years until her health forced her to retire. In addition to teaching, she was also the yearbook sponsor of the Tiger Roar, introducing hundreds of students over the years to the fields of publishing and journalism.

In addition to education, Sharon LOVED being “Coach Robby Barringer’s wife.” Until her health declined, she was at every football and basketball game cheering her husband on. Even though her grasp of the various rules of the games were tenuous at best, her heart was in the right place.

Sharon was also an avid collector of dolls and figurines, proudly displaying them throughout the house. Her precious dolls often sat in child-sized chairs, and while this made wheelchair navigation challenging, they remained in their places until the very end, bringing her joy.

As she lost the ability to drive, Sharon’s love of shopping transitioned from zipping around malls to monitoring QVC and later the wonders of Amazon and Temu. Along with her family and friends, she will be missed by fleets of UPS drivers.

Sharon is survived by her son Ryan Barringer and his wife Katrina; daughter Shanda Barringer Apple; nephews Mark and Duncan (Lee) Barringer; and grandchildren Nolan and Knox Barringer, Leigh Apple, and Gunur and Mavrik Ross. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Osco Sylvester and Mildred Kluttz Culp, and her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert DeBerry Barringer.

A private family burial will be held on Sunday, November 15.

Sharon leaves behind a legacy of dedication, education, and love that many will miss, but more will remember.
