Thomas Myron Marchese, 85, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the WG Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Gwyn officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV, and the family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Grafton, following the committal service.
Thomas was born Jan. 30, 1931, to Joseph and Lillian Bruno Marchese in Staten Island, NY. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Beth Ann Grey.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Thomas was a member of the American Legion and the Veteran’s of Foreign War chapters. A life-long New York Yankees fan and an avid reader, he was a handyman at heart. He enjoyed the beach and had a special skill for organizing photos of family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Annita Helmick Marchese; two sons, Thomas Craig Marchese (Crystal) of Grafton, WV, and Stuart Andrew Marchese (Carrie) of Mannington, WV; one daughter, Peggy Sue Dickey (Randy) of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, John Marchese and companion, Bonnie, of Naples, FL, and Joseph Marchese (Joanne) of Latham, NY; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
