Tommy Horace Arnwine

Tommy Horace Arnwine, 76, most recently of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina but also 20+ year stints in Sonora, Texas and Sundown, Texas, was peacefully welcomed into the embrace of his Savior on October 19, 2023. He was surrounded by his wife of 57 years, his 4 sons, daughters in law and grandchildren when he passed.

Tommy was born on December 20, 1946, in Levelland, Texas to Chester Noel and Ethel Inez (Bird) Arnwine. The youngest of 5 children, Tommy was raised on a west Texas cotton farm. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1965, South Plains College in 1967 and attended Texas Tech University before joining the United States Marine Corps. Tommy did a tour in Vietnam in 1969-70 with the 1 st Marine Division Band and returned to Texas Tech to complete his bachelor's degree in 1972. He returned to active duty where he spent 9 years in service to his country. Tommy was an immensely proud Marine Corps veteran, and loved his time spent in the Marine Corps band at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California.

Upon exiting the Marine Corps, Tommy, along with his wife, Beverly and 4 sons, returned to west Texas where he began a 36-year career in the oil and gas industry, ending his career as an Environmental and Safety Director.

Tommy and Beverly were active in the Methodist Church in all the places they lived. Tommy was a student of the Bible, reading a different Bible each year and studying the historical background of Biblical stories to fully understand the context of the Bible.

In retirement, he, and Beverly completed many of their “someday trips” as in “someday we’re going to go there” including trips to Alaska, Caribbean, and a riverboat cruise in both Europe and a 2nd one in Russia.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly, 4 sons, Shannon (Lorie) of Savannah, Georgia, Shane (Karen) of San Antonio, Texas, Kenny of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina, and Joel (Mary) also of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina and 6 grandchildren Adam, Abby, Maddie, Harrison, Gracie, and Marshall. A sister, Winnie Jo McLean, of Levelland, Texas and many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Tommy was proceeded in death by his parents, Noel and Ethel Arnwine, brothers, CP (Bud) Arnwine, Billy Arnwine, and sister Bobbie Lou Belyeu.
