Vance Eugene Miller

Vance Eugene “Gene” Miller, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Tuesday, December 25, at Atrium Health-NE. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.

Gene was born October 12, 1945 son of the late Nathan Clyde Miller and Stella Goodman Miller. A 1964 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, he began working at Central Motor Lines in Charlotte transitioning to Akers Motor Lines and finally Roadway Express. In 1979, he began working with the NCDMV License and Theft Enforcement section, earning the rank of Sergeant before retirement after 20 years in 1999.

He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served as a worship assistant. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Frick Miller; sons, Wesley Miller (Julie) of Mt. Pleasant and David Miller (Marla) of China Grove; grandchildren, Nolan, Eddie, Macy and Carley.

Memorial service will be 11:00am Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Ericson. The family will receive friends beginning at 9am prior to the memorial service. A private burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 St. John’s Church Rd., Concord, NC 28025

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Charles W. Rhodes and Dr. Paul Campbell for their care and support over the years. Also, thanks to the ICU heart staff at Atrium Health – NE for their exceptional care during his final hours.
